Unit 2 Polynomials

We started Polynomials on Thursday, Aug 21.
We began by identifying and classifying polynomials based on degree and number of terms.
Then we learned how to Add and Subtract polynomials.
On Friday, Aug 22, we practiced with identification and addition and subtraction.
On Monday, Aug 25, we learned about multiplying polynomials.
On Tuesday, Aug 26, we applied what we have learned about polynomials to finding perimeter and area of geometric shapes.

Below you will find links to warm ups, assignments, notes, and various odds and ends of information:

Unit 1 Part 2: Sampling and Questioning

We have spent the week of August 18-22 working on our sampling techniques and unbiased questioning.
We did the "And you believe that" task Monday and Tuesday.  On Monday we also looked at the Menu Project that was due on Friday, Aug. 22. and students placed their "orders" from the menu. The "orders" were returned to the students on Tuesday.
Wednesday, we discussed the required Side Dish, "Experiment Design" and had class time to work on our other activities for our Appetizer,  Entree, and other side dish.

All the Warm ups and TODs and Documents needed for the Week can be found below.

Week 1

Monday - Today was a getting to know you day. As I reviewed Transcripts, students worked on Math Windows. Then students presented their Math windows to the class.
We also discussed the highlights of the syllabus.

Tuesday - For the warm up, students will measure each others heights in inches and record them on a sticky note. Then we will organize the data from smallest to larges and find the 5 number summary and create a box and whisker plot. then we will organize the data in different ways, for example histogram, dot plot.
Then we will take notes on Variance and Standard deviation. and practice finding both.
We will also discuss how to put lists in the calculators and use the calculator to help us fond the mean and the standard deviation and variance.

Wednesday - Then we will take notes on Variance and Standard deviation. and practice finding both.
We will also discuss how to put lists in the calculators and use the calculator to help us fond the mean and the standard deviation and variance.
Keeper #1

Thursday - We worked on the Bell curve and Normal distribution with the Empirical Rule.
We used Keeper #2

Friday - we quizzed over everything from the week and for homework we completed Empirical Rule Practice

I hope everyone had a great first week.

CCGPS Advanced Algebra Syllabus

CCGPS Advanced Algebra Syllabus

Welcome Back

Welcome back to another great year at Pebblebrook.
I look forward to assisting each of you as you continue your journey towards graduation.

I am attempting to do things a little different in my classroom this year. I am going to be doing what is called a flipped classroom.  In this environment, students will have the opportunity to watch videos at home and take notes at their own pace. They will come to class with notes and questions and we will address those questions and then work on problems and projects associated with the lesson they learned.
This allows students to have access to me when they are working on the "hard stuff".

On this blog you will find access to videos, assignments, and other important documents.

I hope this year is an amazing learning opportunity for everyone.
