Well this week was once again interupted by Weather.
Tuesday - Thursday, I sent out REMIND reminders about school being closed and notices that I shared some videos from you tube on solving using synthetic division.
If you have not signed up for remind meassages, you still can. Click Here for instructions.
Friday we will continue working on solving polynomials using synthetic division with our warm up. then we will move into solving a system of polynomial equations consisting of a quadratic and a linear equation. We will learn to solve these graphically and algebraically.
You can get a copy of the student note page with practice problems by clicking here.
You can see the key to the notes and the worked out problems by clicking here.

Week Feb 2
WOW what a crazy week.
Monday we finished talking about pascal's triangle and began discussing factoring. We talked about Greatest Common Factor (GCF),
First one hundred numbers and all of their factors
Tuesday - Thursday you all worked on practice because of my unexpected absence.
Friday was pep rally day. that did stop us. We continued working on Factoring. We learned to factor trinomials and learned about the special pattern, difference of perfect squares.

Week of Jan 26
Monday - We continued working with addition, subtration and multiplication of polynomials. We discussed applications of these operations in dealing with area and perimeter of objects, mainly rectangular.
We discussed the quiz for Tuesday. It will have 8 problems:
Tuesday - Warm up is an example of area and perimeter as it will appear on the quiz today.
We are having a notebook (keeper) check today.
Last minute review before the quiz.
Quiz
TOD - Based on the quiz, 3 things with which you feel very confident, 2 things with which you feel you did well but could have made a mistake, 1 thing with which you are still struggling.
Wednesday - 2nd will begin working on Factoring
3rd and 4th will continue practicing adding, subtracting, and multiplying polynomials
Thursday - All classes will work on Kuta worksheets on classifying, adding, subtracting and multiplying polynomials
Friday - All classes will work on factoring.
We discussed the quiz for Tuesday. It will have 8 problems:
- 2 polynomials that you have to put in standard form, identify the leading coefficient, degree, name based on degree and name based on number of terms. (1 pt each characteristic)
- 2 addition and subtraction problems (5 points each)
- 2 multiplication problems (5 points each)
- 1 shape that you have to find the perimeter (10 points) and the area (10 points)

Week of Jan 19
Monday - Holiday - Hope you enjoyed your day off.
Tuesday we continued unit 1. We looked at the "And You Believe That" Task.
We discussed biased and unbiased questioning and sampling. Homework was from the workbook pg 13-14, 1a-e.
Students were given the Menu Project and Order Form to place their orders from the Menu. Orders will be delivered on Wednesday. Menu project is due Monday, January 26.
Wednesday we had a warm up on sampling. We went through and discssed what type of sampling was done with each problem.
Then we discussed the homework from Tuesday.
Menu Orders were passed out and students were given the rest of the class to work on the project.
Menu project is due Monday, January 26.
If you decide that you want to change one of your choices or you have lost any of the items, I gave you, you can print them here: Entree: Sampling Techniques Activity
Side Dish #1: REQUIRED - Experimental Design
Side Dish #2: Population Practice
Since everyone has to complete the Experimental Design Worksheet, we discussed the differences in experimental and observational studies. I asked that students complete this worksheet either on the blank back or a seperate sheet of paper to ensure that I could read responses.
Thursday We begin Unit 2 - Polynomials. Students are taking notes on Keeper #4.
We will be discussing how to classify polynomials based on degree and number of terms.
We will discuss how to add and subtract polynomials by combining like terms.
Homework will be from the workbook. pg 76, 1-12 All.
Friday We will work with multiplying polynomials by using the distribution property.

Welcome Back
Welcome back to a new semester.
I hope everyone is ready for hard work and some fun.
Tuesday - We had a chance to get to know each other. We created Math windows to share information about ourselves.
Wednesday we hit the ground running with review of measures of central tendencies. We measured everyone's heights in inches and then found the mean, median, mode, Q1. Q3, IQR for the data.
Thursday we continued working with the data and created box and whisker plots and dot plots. We then learned how to find Variance and Standard Deviation.
Friday we learned about Empirical Rule and the bell curve.
Monday we have a quiz over everything from last week.
