Optional extra points using USATestPrep

In order to offer students a variety of opportunities to improve their grade, we are offering a way for students to improve their grade as well as prepare for their final exam.
USATestPrep offers students tutorials and tests to practice all of the lessons we have covered and will be covering in the course.

I have created a how to tutorial page to help students set up an account or log in with an existing account. Click Here to view the document.

Students will log into USATestPrep and go to the pull down menus at the top of the screen and choose SLO - Advanced Algebra.

Students will then choose a topic that they need to study and complete the lessons and practice problems in that area. Once they feel confident with the topic, they can choose to take a practice test and choose the domain (Unit Name). the program will generate a 10 question test for that unit.

Extra points will be added to the existing test as follows:

70% - 5 extra points
80% - 10 extra points
90% - 15 extra points
100% - 20 extra points

Make sure that you choose Ms. McGuire as the teacher so that I will get a report of your progress and can give you your points.  You can also print a copy of your results and turn those in as back up.

November 17 - 21

Monday - we learned about the three types of exponential equations and the three types of logarithmic equations.  We completed a flow chart with steps and examples for each type of equations.

Homework is on the last page of the Notes above.

Tuesday we will practice with solving all types of equations.

Practice sheet 2

Wednesday we will review for the test on Logarithms and Exponential functions
For a copy of the review and key go to the post titled Unit 4 Review.

Thursday we will test.

Friday will be a catch up review day.

Expanding and condensing logarithms

Friday, Nov. 14, we worked on expanding and condensing logarithms.

Week of November 3 - 7

Monday we discussed the characteristics of Rational functions and how to graph them.
Characteristics of Rational functions and graphs

Tuesday you enjoyed a day at home.

Wednesday we continued discussing characteristics of Rational functions. 1st and 3rd worked on a task using the ipads and a website called Desmos.com. Desmos is a graphing app and website. we were able to explore different functions and how together they made up a rational function, we were able to see how the roots of one function corresponded to the key characteristics of the rational function.
For more practice you can download the task and continue working on it using the website Desmos

Thursday we will review for the test which is scheduled for Friday. If you need another copy of the review or you are absent on Thursday, you can download it and print it.

Friday we will take our last assessment on Unit 3 Rational and Radical functions.
